It has become an unusual habit of mine to keep track of the latest happenings around the globe. After all, it's hard not to watch the news on TV or surf major online news sites and keep myself informed. There's the recently concluded presidential elections in the United States, the global financial crisis, big companies closing down their factories, retrenchment of employees, corruption practices, war, crimes and others that only create a bleak future.
I used to separate myself from these events, believing that I'm not affected with what's happening. However, upon learning that my friends were on a brink of actually losing their jobs, I realized that I'm more involved than ever.
Despite the dismal outlook in the near future, I'm still optimistic that everything will fall into place. But for now, it pays to be vigilant.
