Winning streaks

A lot of people I know are currently enjoying winning streaks this week.

First, my lil' bro won a photography contest sponsored by SONY in CdO. This photo which he took during the Kagay-an festival stood out among the many entries this year. He narrowly lost in the same competition last year but this time, it's his time to shine. I guess the digital camera I bought for him was a good thing after all. (Of course, he will be reimbursing the money used for the purchase. However, with the rate he's going - with all his upcoming photo shoots, I won't be surprised if he suddenly makes a full payment later this year).

Second, my bets for this year's U.S. Open have made their way to the latter parts of the tournament. Both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal made it to the quarterfinals as of current update and the Williams sisters (Venus and Serena) also made it this far. Too bad, only one of them will proceed to the semifinals since they will square off for only one semifinal slot later. Also progressing in the final four are Jelena Jankovic and Beijing Olympics singles gold medalist Elena Dementieva. There may be a new number one in the women's standings this weekend.

Third, the minds behind Google have come up with a new browser that is expected to revolutionize how we surf the web. The Google Chrome just made its debut earlier this day and I downloaded and installed the browser. So far, it's okay. I haven't done anything major to check if the site has bugs that other people know of. We'll just wait a few days and see if negative or positive reviews will flood the online world regarding this new browser. For now, I am perfectly comfortable with Firefox.

I'm on my way to General Santos later this day with my sister. We'll be taking part in the Tuna Festival which is currently ongoing. We'll be meeting with some politicians there like Congressman Darlene Custodio and Senator Chiz Escudero since my sister was hired to do some media work for the latter. In a way, this also seems to be a perfect opportunity for us to also meet our relatives from our father's side. It's been 13 years since I last visited General Santos so it's probably time to catch up on things.

Ciao!
